Job Description

Duties

  • Supervises necessary training for security guard personnel in the use of weapons, protection against espionage, sabotage, and other organized subversive actions.
  • Serves as a Shift Supervisor who exercises direct supervision over the activities of the security guard force.
  • Responsible for protection of government and personal property and control of access of personnel and vehicles to the installation.
  • Responsible for support of the implementation of emergency plans and patrolling of restricted and limited access areas.
  • Makes personnel adjustments to reflect workload revisions.
  • Plans and coordinates the activities of a security guard force shift, to ensure the maintenance of physical security standards and enforcement of federal state, and local laws.
  • Performs daily post checks of all post/personnel included in the security guard force areas of responsibilities.
  • Responsible for performing a diverse range of protective responsibilities over Federal property, employees, and visitors.
  • Responsible for assisting with suppression of riots; demonstrations and disorders; traffic and crowd control.

  • This position requires the wearing of a chemical protective mask. You must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • This position is subject to the requirements of the individual Reliability Program (IRP), in accordance with AR 190-56.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires completion of a one-year supervisory probationary period.
  • This position requires working both inside and outside, with possible exposure to inclement weather.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test and random testing thereafter.
  • This position has a requirement to carry a firearm and remain proficient in the use of assigned weapons.
  • This position requires rotating shifts and overtime work.
  • The position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • This position requires certification in CPR.
  • This position requires that you wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56 and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must submit to a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter to maintain a level of physical fitness.
  • This position requires Security Response Capability Training for the employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.
  • May be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • This position has been designated as Mission Essential.
  • This position requires successful completion of security guard training.
  • This position requires a Secret security clearance.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 or above grade level in the Federal service which includes safeguarding personnel, property, and technologies against threats such as unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction; making daily guard assignments; providing on-the-job training; independently performing installation access control duties; and/or performing Visitor Control Center duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
