What You’ll Be Doing
  • Create and maintain saw guides and guide plans
  • Troubleshoot equipment and assist maintenance in repair of filing room equipment
  • Participate in reliability task teams or activities as required
  • Coach apprentices and operators to learn saw filing trade and help with PMs
  • Manage saw and knife performance and budget to meet organizational goals and objectives
  • Proactively resolve employee issues, build teamwork, and ensure adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
  • Handle all scheduling for team members and vacation requests
  • Lead the filing team to perform and coordinate functions to support the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of filing operations associated with benching, tipping, grinding and fitting bandsaws. This includes sharpening, tipping, and benching round saws, and honing and maintaining knives
  • Ensuring all team members of the filing team are following all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures, as safety is a top priority
  • Complete PMs for sawmill and saw shop machinery as required
What You Bring
  • Experience with preventative maintenance processes and understanding process reliability and how to maintain shop standards
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills that require attention to detail
  • The ability to work with a team and to work as a group to problem solve and support other members of the team
  • Strong communication skills that include the ability to provide constructive feedback positively to help employees grow and improve in their role
  • Experience in a sawmill or manufacturing environment
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ of experience in a previous lead saw filing or Supervisory saw filing role - round saws and band saws experience required
  • Knowledge of different types of machine center alignment and the ability to service all aspects of saw maintenance and experience with Inspecting and maintaining precision equipment for proper calibration
  • A great attitude that includes striving to improve processes to add value to the business
