Supervisor Lab

      Position Description:

In the role of Lab Supervisor you will be working in Anesthesiology Department in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

      Purpose

      Supervise laboratory personnel, and responsible for overseeing daily operations, quality and timeliness of lab activities.

      Primary Functions

      • Keep abreast of research techniques and methodologies that might facilitate designated research projects.
      • Analyze data using statistical methodologies; may produce graphic results.
      • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
      • Develop and perform complex lab research procedures requiring specialized experience in several areas of lab investigation.
      • Participate in meetings with the principle investigator and staff to evaluate and interpret the validity of data, determine methodologies and evaluate lab procedures impacting the quality and timeliness of research.
      • Supervise staff including hiring, training, performance reviews, coaching and corrective actions; oversee daily operations of the laboratory.
      • Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment, train lab staff in its use as necessary.
      • Demonstrate procures and provide individualized instruction for lab staff, students and residents.
      • Create and maintain accurate and timely records of test results, providing information for evaluation and specific recommendations related to the direction of the research.
      • Oversee supplies and ongoing expenses related to area of research.
      • Develop and apply standard quality control procedures to assure quality results.
      • Communicate with researchers in other laboratories; share ideas and research methodologies to improve the effectiveness of the research.


      Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

      Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team with other lab members

      Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.

      Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

      Expertise in animal behavior and histology are beneficial but can be acquired.

      Ability to develop and follow new research protocols and to document meticulously.

      Familiarity with basic data analysis and statistics programs.

      Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

      Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

      Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree

      Minimum Required Experience: 5 years

      Field: Molecular Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Psychology, Psychiatry, Neurology or related fields
