Job Description

At MSCM Law, we are dedicated to offering practical advice and effective legal services in predominately in family law across Columbia, Lexington, Sumter, and other South Carolina towns and counties. We pride ourselves on our commitment to clear communication and solid, comprehensible guidance, assisting our clients in making the best possible decisions for their families.We are currently seeking diligent and motivated Student Law Clerks to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in family law and contribute to making a meaningful difference in our clients' lives.

Responsibilities

  1. Assisting lawyers in drafting legal documents related to divorce, separation, alimony, property division, child custody, child support, adoptions, and mediation.
  2. Conducting legal research to aid case preparation.
  3. Reviewing and organizing client files.
  4. Attending client meetings and court proceedings for the purpose of learning and professional development.
  5. Communicating professionally with clients and colleagues.
  6. Demonstrating a high level of discretion and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.


Qualifications

  1. Current enrollment in an accredited law school.
  2. Ability to read cursive handwriting is essential. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate this skill during the hiring process.
  3. Strong academic record, particularly in courses relevant to family law.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  6. A high level of professionalism and respect for confidentiality.
  7. Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work in a team environment.
