Job Description

Coordinate and/or assist with assigned student activities and services. Produce and provide project support of tasks that involve the development of programming, activities, and special events. Reports to Associate Director, Center for Student Involvement.

Examples of Duties:


Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Serve as primary advisor for the Flash Activities Board. Duties will include: oversight of executive board hiring, training and evaluation; management of programming budget including the execution of all event related contracts; assistance in developing and planning a full calendar of events for the academic year.

Serve as coordinator of the FLASHperks student engagement program, including day-to-day management of event requests, prize distribution, data management, and student staffing. Will oversee and implement new software management system.

Collaborate with Associate Director in conducting regular assessment of CSI programming via individual and focus group evaluations, as well as use of relevant college assessment data and tools.

Work with Associate Director, Marketing (DSA) to provide content updates to related web pages and event graphic requests.

Serve as a resource to students seeking involvement in student organizations and activities. Serve as a liaison between student organizations and campus administrators.

Advise and provide direct developmental assistance to assigned student organizations in programmatic functions; attend official meetings, provide programming advice, and facilitate events sponsored by assigned organizations; ensure compliance with operational policies, procedures, and regulations concerning programming activities.

Serve on various department, division, and university committees.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree. One year of experience in student engagement activities in a higher education setting. Must be able to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.

License/Certification:


Knowledge Of:

Personal computer applications, including MS Office Suite *

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat Professional
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Written, verbal, and interpersonal communications with the ability to communicate effectively with all components of the university (faculty, staff, and students) and external constituents, including public speaking/public relations *
Critical thinking, decision-making, and complex issue resolutions that cross multiple areas of student services *
Implementing projects and assessment of program initiatives *
Content management systems and web-based communications and design *
Graphic design principles *
Grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary *
Social media platforms

Ability To:

Provide leadership to student staff
Develop a coordinated workflow/timeline to manage multiple projects
Build relationships with external and internal constituents
Work independently and as part of a team
Multi-task while managing multiple projects and assignments *
Work nontraditional hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends *

Experience in student affairs in higher education.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:


Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off-campus occasionally.
