Job Description

Job Title: Junior Estimator
Salary: $50,000-$60,000 (+benefits & bonus)
Function – Steelwork
Location: Arlington – Office Based
(Relocation Package available)

The Client
We have a fantastic opportunity at a local long-standing, reputable steelwork contractor. They are currently looking for a Junior Estimator to join the ranks. They are looking for 1-3 years minimum experience in structural or miscellaneous steelwork.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Client meetings as needed.
  • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection standards and procedures.
  • Work interdepartmentally to establish scope of work.
  • Expedite timely, accurate project cost budgets by utilizing historic data, unit pricing, subcontractor/vendor proposals and methods as discussed with management.
  • Assist field personnel with estimating Change Orders, RFP’s and clarification of RFIs.
  • Assist in the coordination and handoff to the Project Management team.
  • Attend all pre-construction meetings/walkthroughs, site visits, post bid meetings.
  • Ability to read and interpret structural steel shop, field use and design drawings.
  • Accurately assist in preparing a detailed cost estimate of all aspects of a proposed project including, but not limited to, quantity take off, detailed cost estimate, line item and subcontractor summary by division.
  • Solicit pricing for materials and subcontractors as needed.
  • Attend bid review meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Experience:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural steel, structural steel and Misc.
  • Ability to perform basic to advanced mathematics required for estimating.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and multitask with meticulous attention to detail within time constraints.
Education
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of structural or miscellaneous steelwork estimating experience required.
