Job Description
Location: Alaska Railroad Operations Warehouse and Car Shop - $17.00 per hour


Supervisor: General Manager


Summary Receives, stores, and distributes products from warehouse to train cars.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to train cars.
  • Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to train.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Reads par sheets to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed amongst units.
  • Maintains inventory records.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to train cars.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Counts items for distribution to train.
  • Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerators and freezers.

Education And/or Experience


Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills


Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations


State of Alaska Food Handlers Card; TAP Certification, First Aid and CPR Certifications, and Driver’s License with good driving record
