There are three (3) postiions avalible, you only need one (1) application.
This position works under direction and requires considerable knowledge of stationary engineering.
The Job Opportunity and Duties…
  • Cleans plant and equipment as needed
  • Use power and/or hand tools to maintain operation of power plant
  • Attends training, seminars and/or meetings as required
  • Makes rounds of powerhouse (e.g., reads gauges, checks power consumption meters and switches, starts, synchronizes switches and stops generators or turbines as needed, adjusts and observes operation of equipment)
  • Conduct chemical test on boiler cooling and heating waters to determine amount of chemicals to be added
  • Serves on institutional committees
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Keeps powerhouse log recording gauge readings, fuel consumed, power generated, maintenance work performed and related records
  • Performs security functions as required (e.g., man-down, shakedown, inmate movement)
  • Starts and stops pumps, fans, air compressor, boiler absorption unit, water heaters, turbines and cooling tower as needed
  • Operate, maintain, repair and observe operation of powerhouse equipment (e.g., boilers, furnaces, stokers, other fuel burning equipment, turbines, blowers, flow meters, pumps, generators, fans, pollution control equipment)
  • Maintains, repairs and observes emergency generator and switch gear
Qualifications
Stationary Steam Engineer License pursuant to Section 4104.19, Revised Code.
Knowledge of powerhouse safety practices; stationary engineering. Skill in operating powerhouse equipment to include coal and/or fuel and ash/waste handling equipment; operating frontend loader. Ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate emergency action; understand powerhouse procedures; calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; maintain accurate records; use limbs, fingers and hands to operate equipment, machinery or tools; walk, stand or bend for long periods of time; lift up to 80 pounds.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to an appointment to test for illegal drug use. The State will decline to extend a final offer of employment to any applicant with a verified positive test result. Also, an applicant with a positive test result will not be considered for any position with the State of Ohio for a period of one year. "Not applicable to current state employees".

This position may be subject to Federal Alcohol. Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) regulations that prohibit someone to carry, transport, or otherwise possess firearm(s) and/or ammunition from consuming marijuana, including medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is prohibited as a valid medical explanation for a positive drug test for final applicants in this position.

Pre-Employment Background Investigation:
