I nternal Auditor
Summary
The Staff Internal Auditor assists in evaluating the company’s internal control structure and other accounting, financial and operational activities. This is accomplished through implementation and continual compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The position assists corporate management and operations personnel in the design, application and assessment of internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure accuracy and completeness of financial and operations data and promote operational efficiency an d effectiveness.
This position will be based out of our NYC office on either a full time or hybrid (working from home 1-2 days per week) basis.
Key Responsibilities
Support in the design, operation and testing of the internal controls over financial reporting as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 – Sections 302 and 404
Lead process and transaction walk-throughs with internal control owners to validate processes remain in compliance with accounting policy and internal control objectives
Maintain and update internal control documentation including process flow diagrams, narratives, and design and oper ating effectiveness testing.
Assist in the execution of the annual audit plan which includes evaluating accounting, financial and operational activities that align with the company's strategic business objectives
Provide assistance to the Company's extern al auditors
Address and support the department in ad-hoc audits, fraud investigations, process improvement initiatives and other special projects as assigned
Promote strong, positive working relationships with relevant internal stakeholders to develop a th orough understanding of the business, relevant financial reporting risks and core key processes
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley Act provisions and methodologies for achieving compliance.
Knowledge of accounting and auditing processes and methodologies, including flowcharting
Knowledge of AuditBoard SOXHub and Workday a plus
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, Visio)
Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills (oral and w ritten)
Confident, caring, team-oriented, supportive, empathetic and trustworthy
Related Experience
Background should include core competency in SOX compliance and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting
Reviewing, document ing, evaluating and testing controls in a wide range of environments
Experience in Internal Audit in a publicly traded company and/or audit within a Big 4 Firm
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Related Field
