Role Overview:
The Senior Tax Accountant will wear multiple hats due to Fisker’s start-up environment and rapid growth in operations. The role requires a working knowledge of indirect taxes related to either Value Added Taxes (“VAT”) mainly in the European Union, and/or Sales/Use Taxes within the U.S.
Primary roles for this position are (1) take ownership of our current VAT process that continues to grow in complexity and (2) assist in the development of our Sales/Use Tax process. Secondary roles will revolve around ad hoc projects related to various tax topics including indirect taxes, income taxes, and payroll taxes.
This role will report to the Tax Manager, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer.
:
  • Assist with the set-up of the Sales/Use Tax process for 2022.
  • Research VAT and Sales/Use Tax topics; for Sales/Use Tax, may require a call directly to state tax authorities.
  • For VAT, provide invoices and support to external tax consultants to submit VAT returns and VAT refund claims on Fisker’s behalf.
  • Respond to VAT and Sales/Use Tax inquiries or audits from Tax authorities
  • On a weekly basis review invoices with VAT related to transaction in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. to ensure consistency with Company’s VAT guidelines.
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations of VAT and Sales Tax Payable accounts.
  • Monitor due dates of monthly and quarterly VAT returns, VAT refund claims status, and Sales/Use Tax returns by tax jurisdiction.
  • Update VAT Tracker to identify VAT balances by Fisker entity, tax jurisdiction, and by month/quarter. VAT balances include refunds pending and refunds received.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects on as needed basis. Ad hoc projects could be related to VAT, Sales/Use Tax, payroll taxes, customs fees/import taxes, income taxes, etc.
  • Work with various internal Fisker departments, vendors, and external tax consultants to resolve any issues related to VAT or Sales/Use Tax.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task & prioritize with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience working in either Value Added Taxes (“VAT”) or Sales/Use Taxes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, & ability to effectively communicate.
  • Experience in manufacturing, technology and/or automotive is desired but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment either independently or in a small team environment with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Experience in filing VAT or Sales/Use tax returns.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Member of the Institute (CMI) license desired but not required.
Expected Salary Range: $61,600.00 to $171,600.00.
Additional compensation: Salary is one part of total compensation which includes bonuses, equity awards as applicable, and benefits. An employee is eligible to participate in Fisker’s equity program, subject to the rules governing such programs.

The salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, education/training, certifications, key skills, experience, internal peer equity as well as business considerations. Fisker reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position within the salary range listed, taking into account the wide variety of factors listed above.
