Position Specific Description


This job is responsible for transacting short term power purchases/sales in the southeast markets. Employees in this role develop, communicate, and execute trading strategies. This position will work closely with the hourly trading desk as well as with the FPL generation scheduling and dispatch.


  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Determines generation requirements and coordinates fuel procurement to meet obligations
  • May require working “off hours” during extreme weather events
  • Optimizes economics to assure minimum energy supply costs and maximizes profits for generation portfolio
  • Monitors market conditions and analyzes transactions to help in identifying and executing energy trades
  • Create and maintain excellent business relationships with our trading partners
  • Ensures transaction terms are beneficial to the organization and meet risk guidelines
