Job Description
Sr. Operations Manager


Status: Exempt (salaried)


Position Summary


The Operations Manager role is responsible for managing all day-to-day service manufacturing operations with respect to planning, inventory, assembly, kitting, remanufacturing, and part usage across the service business. The ideal candidate is someone who possesses a thorough knowledge of manufacturing best practices and has a demonstrated track record in operations management. The Service Operations Manager must be prepared to adapt to the ever-changing needs of a fast-paced service organization while coaching their team to success. It is necessary that the Service Operations Manager establishes procedural standards in place for the service organization through effective training and ongoing communication.


Core Duties And Responsibilities


  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships within various sectors of the business including procurement, warehouse, production, and engineering to support mutual company goals
  • Lead performance management activities including the preparation of performance evaluations, handling of disciplinary matter, and others as necessary by partnering with your supervisor and Human Resources team
  • Manage all day-to-day deliverables for spares operations, both remote and onsite; assign daily tasks and lead efforts to meet service goals
  • Evaluate and develop departmental procedures that support cost control, rigid quality standards and foster efficiency and accuracy; champion process improvement initiatives as appropriate
  • Responsible for the decommissioning process of return and trade-in units, ensuring material is reworked for optimal cost savings
  • Interact with customers as needed, establishing communication regarding inventory and parts needed
  • Maintain and enforce a safe environment and a culture of safety in alignment with 5S principles and in accordance with all OSHA regulation
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with direct report team members; delegate tasks and project assignments; provide guidance on service standards – said in first part
  • Develop and communicate reporting metrics that display labor efficiencies within the service organization, inventory levels and cost-control data
  • Oversee customer service for all spare parts including coordination of warranty renewals through communication with purchasing, planning and corresponding suppliers and vendors
  • Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week
  • Direct all tasks associated with service materials including but not limited to inventory, returns, remanufacturing, and warranty


Education And Experience


  • Six Sigma Green Belt experience and training is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Highly adept leadership qualities to establish pillars of team performance excellence and build team morale
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or relevant field of study
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems; work order system experience is ideal
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience within a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing function; experience with management and team supervision is highly preferred
  • Must be driven and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
  • Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality
  • Excellent follow-through
