The Position:
Panasonic Avionics is pioneering next generation in-flight passenger experience beyond entertainment and enable personalized engagement. We envision in-flight experience becomes an extension of passengers’ digital life, seamlessly blending their preferences with the airline’s offerings – transforming air travel into an unforgettable customized adventure. To drive this vision forward, Panasonic seeks an experienced Senior Director of Data Analytics & Personalization to lead a team of 100+ professionals in building and managing a cloud-based data analytics framework covering data from multiple sources and creating personalization parameters for entertainment, commerce, and overall digital engagement. This evolution heralds a new era of opportunity for airlines. Empowered with data-driven insights, airlines can create dynamic marketplace in the sky, unlocking unique branding possibilities, and elevate their competitive edge in an ever-changing airline landscape. This leadership role will be critical in driving company's digital engagement strategy forward.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including business teams and IT, to identify data analytics needs and develop solutions to meet those needs
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with external vendors, service providers, and industry associations to stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data analytics
  • Develop and implement data analytics strategies to provide personalized experiences to airlines and passengers, such as customizing in-flight entertainment options, enhancing cabin service, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Led the design and implementation of data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations
  • Lead the design and implementation of a cloud-based data analytics framework using advanced data science and engineering techniques, including building a data lake that can be used to collect and store large amounts of structured and unstructured data. Develop data-driven personalization framework that provides input to other digital solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the data analytics team.
  • Manage a team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts responsible for data collection, processing, analysis, and visualization.
The salary range of $181,000 - $303,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.


What We’re Looking For:

  • Knowledge of the airline industry and/or experience in aviation-related data analytics is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale data analytics projects from inception to completion, focusing on delivering business value.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based data analytics frameworks, such as data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field
  • Strong technical skills in data science, machine learning, and big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and AWS
  • At least ten years of experience in data analytics, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing a team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of building and managing high-performing teams.

  • Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
