SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Sr. DevOps Engineer to maintain, improve, and support cloud infrastructure for highly-available and scalable production operations at Rakuten Advertising. As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, you will work with other Operations team members and other teams to troubleshoot problems, and find solutions to help deliver projects.

This includes accessing various learning platforms paid for by Rakuten, as well as working with teammates to share knowledge. We prefer to promote from within, so we are looking for someone to help us grow our teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain, develop, and operate a high-availability and high-rate production environment.
  • Upgrade system software, apply patches, and implement security standards.
  • Assist with launching new and upgrading existing applications.
  • Explore new technologies and solutions to enhance operational excellence and cost efficiencies
  • On call support - pager rotation
  • Demonstrate ability to be a flexible, organized, thoughtful, and proactive team player who can work with minimal guidance as well as strong abilities in communication.
  • Use monitoring tools to identify operational anomalies and take action to resolve them
  • Follow, create, and edit SOPs and documentation

  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills as well the ability to work under minimal supervision in a flexible, team-oriented environment.

  • Must have an aptitude and a desire for proactive support of research and innovation. A thoughtful, collaborative approach with end users, staff colleagues, and other IT professionals is essential.

  • Perform on call responsibilities as part of a team rotation

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Monitoring (Prometheus and Grafana)
  • Server Administration with Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat/Centos) Operating System
  • 7 years or more of overall experience with the following skill sets:
    • Cloud Experience (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Service)
    • Server Administration with Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat/Centos) Operating System
    • Server Virtualization (KVM)
    • Scripting (Bash, Python)
    • Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Spinnaker
    • Automation (such as CI/CD experience with Jenkins, CircleCI)
    • Monitoring (Prometheus and Grafana)
    • Configuration and Change Management (Ansible and Terraform)
    • Networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, Load Balancing, Firewall Rules)
  • Scripting (Bash, Python)

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical field is desirable.
  • Automation (such as CI/CD experience with Jenkins, CircleCI)

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base salary for this role will be between $115,060 - $179,740. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
