DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, the Sr. Building Maintenance Worker will perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, alteration and repair of infrastructure (including buildings, structures, furniture and fixtures, streets, walkways, fences). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: pressure washing services for parking lots and structures, buildings, stairwells, walkways, common areas, outdoor furniture and fixtures, outdoor shade umbrellas and umbrella bases; repair, assemble and maintain outdoor furniture including tables, chairs, umbrellas and umbrella bases on a large scale; perform preparatory work on buildings, parking structures, and asphalt for painting/striping projects; seal off, clean and vacuum out storm drains including roof, building and hardscape. Occasional use of a high lift.

  • May be required to work overtime as operationally necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of safely operating and maintaining a variety of pressure washing equipment including high pressure trailer-mounted units as well as lower pressure handheld units, following accepted industry standards.
  • Proven ability to work effectively, with accuracy, in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities. Ability to plan, follow through and effectively carry out assignments. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to use problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships through a professional approach in handling customer service needs and resolving problems efficiently.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively, courteously and professionally with all members of the university community. Ability to work effectively in a team-based, service-oriented environment. Ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically.
  • Basic computer skills to check email, enter time and material data and to complete electronic records. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of related safety procedures and practices related to power equipment and tools. Proven ability to safely operate a truck and trailer, pressure washing equipment, water recapturing equipment, high lift, and other relater tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to assemble, repair, and alter indoor and outdoor office and patio furniture.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate the work of a landscape/hardscape pressure washing team at a university, college, hospital, municipality, and/or other large commercial facility.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be physically able to perform essential functions of position. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • DOJ/FBI and DMV background checks and clearances required prior to employment.
  • Must possess and maintain valid California Driver License and participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $47,502 - $61,429 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $22.75 - $29.42

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
