Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis is a critical role to help Business directors understand their financial results, target and create a path to achieving those targets, and work on strategic growth and development projects. 

This individual will be responsible for providing monthly and quarterly reports to senior leadership and business directors with insightful analysis to provide recommendations for improvement.  Important responsibilities include: analyzing business at month end, qualifying and quantifying variances to forecast and annual operating plan, preparing slide decks for monthly and quarterly business reviews, updating monthly and quarterly forecasts, and assisting with the development of the annual operating plan and long-range plan. 

Additionally, the analyst is responsible for enhancing TPC’s long-term growth and Corporate Development strategy through analysis, and actionable recommendations that will help support the long-term success of the organization.    

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Financial Performance Support

  • Identifies process deficiencies, researching solutions and planning and coordinating the remediation of these deficiencies
  • Provides monthly and quarterly reports to senior leadership and business directors with insightful analysis to provide recommendations for improvement
  • Analyzes performance at month end, qualifying and quantifying variances to forecast, prepares slide decks for monthly and quarterly business reviews, updates monthly and quarterly forecasts, and assists with the annual operating and long-range plans
  • Explains facts, practices, policies and context to others within the organization, if necessary
  • Leads tracking of corporate savings initiatives, and validates against actual financial performance, if necessary

Business Analysis Support

  • Provides economic analyses of the ongoing strategic projects and their development by using both process economic modeling in researching best scenarios and project economic modeling in researching the financial aspect of the project
  • Analyzes operational and logistical costs and relevant commodity pricing to improve
  • Researches and analyzes market data and develops profitability models to support commercial initiatives and negotiations
  • Works within team to develop consistent tools, analytical methods, and presentation materials

 Corporate Development Support

  • Works with director to evaluate M&A and new business ventures
  • Provides case studies (production differences), project returns and sensitivity studies (overall effect of the project) related to risk analysis
  • Performs corporate strategic and financial analyses for capital projects and new ventures

  • Ability to summarize complex, technical information for lay people in effective presentations
  • Exhibits collaboration and influencing skills - enters into an environment with established processes and tools, and influences improvements

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A solid working knowledge of TPC Group’s manufacturing operations
  • Two or more of the following:
  • Understanding of the TPC Group business model and commercial markets
  • 8+ years of proven technical experience in the Petrochemical or refining industries
  • Is very well-versed in the TPC Group accounting system and processes
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or relevant technical field from an accredited university or institution

 PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • MBA or other graduate degree
