The Opportunity


As a Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst under a centrally created Data Solutions Support team for Auto, you will be responsible for driving next gen data analytics solutions for Ally’s Auto Finance business unit. You will be responsible for working with business intelligence and data management teams to build scalable data products and Business Intelligence solutions.


The Work Itself


  • Possess Data Warehousing principals and concepts to help build reporting data marts in Oracle, Big Data platforms: Hadoop and Cloud databases like Snowflake
  • Must possess experience with Agile methodologies and concepts to manage team’s workload and projects effectively.
  • Advanced working knowledge of SQL, SAS, Python/R with the ability to write complex SQL statements to build data tables and produce reports
  • Stays current with industry trends and partakes in development of key data/analytics innovation platforms
  • Ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner
  • Partner with the business stakeholders to provide reporting and data solutions.
  • Work with business analytics leaders to understand metrics and curate them to make data available In Snowflake tables or Python/SAS data sets.
  • Responsible for creating data/analytical products to provide support to the Auto Finance business
  • Experience and working knowledge in extracting data from traditional data warehouse, big data ecosystems and cloud data warehouses to produce critical data for business analyst executives and operational leaderships.
  • Build executive visualization in Power BI/Python from the curated data and present findings


The Skills You Bring


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in ANSI SQL, SAS, EDAP, working knowledge of MS Power Query, Visual Basic, and Python/R.
  • Strong presentation skills, including ability to articulate complex problems in a simple manner.
  • Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques to quickly identify and resolve bugs and/or data-related issues.
  • Proven experience with team collaboration on projects and meeting rigid timelines.
  • 3+ years of experience data analysis and data management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science, MIS, IT or Engineering preferred.
  • 3+ Years of experience in working in data warehouse platforms and big data Hadoop platforms.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc. and standard Enterprise systems.
  • Experience with relational database concepts and query syntaxes like Oracle, SQL Server required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Reporting tools such PowerBI, Tableau or Cognos.
