Job Description
Join the Mizuho team as a SQL Server DBA!
Location: Hybrid. NYC metro area preferred.
Experience: 5+ years
In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the firm’s SQL Server database systems, ensuring resiliency, uptime, HA/DR, performance, capacity planning, overall monitoring and documentation.
This DBA role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, a focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with MSUSA SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with stakeholders to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.
Position Requirements:
  • Engage in continuous sizing analysis to forecast growth and work with storage team to ensure adequate space on all servers.
  • Support ancillary systems in the database environment (Delphix, monitoring applications, etc.)
  • Maintain data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users).
  • Support software developers to drive proper coding practices and assist in the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures/functions/triggers/etc.
  • Help manage replication and HA technologies, namely transactional replication, SQL Server Availability Groups, and database mirroring.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2016, 2017, and 2019. SQL Server 2022 is plus.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support database environment.
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Learn and exercise relevant business procedures, processes and understand data flow, criticality and dependencies.
  • Preferred candidates will be able to monitor and triage issues across all database management systems in the Mizuho environment as required (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, etc.).
  • Manage HA/DR setups to meet or exceed application RTO/RPO targets and implement solutions for managing backup and recovery.
  • Use available toolset (OpsRamp, SQLSentry, etc.) for database tuning. Generate traces, execution plans, identify and resolve performance issues, address deadlocks/contention.
The expected base salary ranges from $75k-$140k. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
