Job Description
  • Coordinates the acquisition of adaptive communication devices and instructs Pt. in their use.

  • Screens, examines, and evaluates patients including history, review of systems, and application of appropriate tests and measures; interprets examination finding in conjunction with analysis of medical record in order to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, provide a prognosis and time required to meet it, identify precautions/contraindications, and design and execute plan of care; develops appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers; designs treatment programs and implements the speech-language pathology treatment plan; and completes all related documentation and recordkeeping regarding these services.
  • The Speech-language Pathologist (SLP) organizes and provides speech, language, and swallowing intervention to facilitate rehabilitation and directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and/or enhance such performance. The SLP facilitates the learning of skills and functions essential for communication, cognitive-linguistic functions, and swallowing to diminish or remediate disorders or deficit. S/he directs activities to promote and maintain health within the Code of Ethics of the Profession.
  • Demonstrated fine motor dexterity
  • Be licensed as an SLP in the State of New Hampshire.
  • Ability to lift small equipment of 10 pounds or less
  • Knowledge of common computer applications and functions.
  • Supervises Clinical Fellows (CF), temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards, as appropriate.
  • Applies appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive-linguistic, speech intelligibility, oral motor skills, swallowing disorders, perceptual ability affecting communication or swallowing; orientation; memory; pragmatics, psychosocial expression, and/or functional communication.
  • Facilitates identification of hearing deficits, vocal fold disorders, and esophageal disorders and appropriately refers for assessment, diagnosis, and/or rehabilitation.

  • POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess or be eligible for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or be eligible to participate as an ASHA clinical fellow (CF).
  • Ability to sit for at least one hour
  • Develops collaborative communications with other local and/or regional Speech Pathology professionals, to support best practices, program development and professional growth.
  • Anything listed here requires a pre-employment physical by Employee Health to determine if the employee is capable of meeting the requirements.
  • Position Objective
  • One (1) year of experience in speech pathology preferred.
  • Master's degree with a major in Speech-language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or other similarly titled area consistent and acceptable to the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Performance Expectation
  • Ability to push up to 50 pounds
  • Provides internal and/or external education or in-services related to the Speech Pathology program development at least quarterly
