The SC Liaison will initially report to the General Counsel and will play a critical role in helping to develop, maintain and address Scout Motors’ relationship with community members, community organizations, elected officials, and government representatives in the greater Blythewood, South Carolina area and on a state-wide basis.

  • Communicate with other members of the Scout Motors team so that all relevant personnel and subject matter experts are duly informed of matters of importance to Scout Motors and the community

  • Identify, recommend and oversee consultants and other third parties as necessary or appropriate
  • Identify and build relationships with local businesses, charitable and affinity organizations, suppliers and others in the community
  • Develop and manage Scout Motors’ community and government relations activities in and around Richland County and throughout the state as we build, launch and operate our new electric vehicle production facility in Blythewood, South Carolina

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events. Applicants should be based in the greater Columbia, South Carolina area, and able to spend a significant amount of time in that area, in addition to travel to other Scout Motors locations on an as-needed basis.

What you’ll bring

  • Ability to represent, balance and influence the positions of varied stakeholders advocating for sometimes disparate needs
  • Strong knowledge and roots in the greater Blythewood community
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work well across departments and strengthen company culture through effective collaboration
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in community relations and/or governmental affairs
  • Experience and interest in problem solving and working with diverse interests
  • Ability to build strong relationships, make connections and persuasively communicate messages
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills
What to expect

Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. In addition, Scout provides competitive compensation, medical, dental, and vision plans, company holidays and paid vacation, and a 401(k) savings plan with company match.
