Job Responsibilities
- Investigate complaints, determine validity, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
- Prepare reports and referrals of a professional and technical nature for enforcement activities. Recommend corrective action for violations.
- Layout and permit suitable sites according to state regulations and policies.
- Provide consultation to the regulated community and public on state laws, regulations, and standards.
- Conducts second opinions on requested sites.
- Conduct inspections of installed onsite wastewater systems to ensure compliance with state regulations.
- OR an associate degree in a related technical field and at least one (1) year of environmental health or related experience;
- A bachelor’s degree in a related technical field;
- OR a high school diploma or GED, and at least three (3) years of environmental health or related experience.
- Daily travel throughout the state.
- Participation on the Environmental Response Team and is subject to on call or call back 24/7.
- Occasional overnight travel.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Work in all reasonable weather conditions and access non-traditional work environments.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment and encourage positive working relationships with coworkers, industry, and government officials.
- Ability to successfully complete prescribed technical coursework and pass any test relevant to the position within the probationary period or trial period.
- Work independently in a field environment.
- May require:
- Able to provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Training or experience in describing or classifying soils.
- Familiarity with onsite wastewater methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
