About The Vision
Wells Fargo's Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) is making a significant multi-year investment in its e-Brokerage platform to provide an even more compelling and competitive offering to customers. This investment will add important new capabilities and features both for self-directed and automated investing and provide new fully native mobile experiences. To support these customer-centric enhancements and to ensure the platform scales for future success, we are embarking on a technology modernization effort to improve time to market and allow us to take full advantage of all the public cloud capabilities. The key to our success will be hiring best-in-class technology professionals into a number of newly created roles, to supplement our existing team with targeted top talent to drive our transformation. We are looking for people with experience modernizing complex, mission critical applications at scale, while the platform continues to support ongoing business growth.
About Our Team
The WIMT Digital team manages, develops and supports customer facing brokerage systems. It has approximately 170 engineers globally between the US and India. Our main development centers in the US are in New York, Charlotte (NC) and St. Louis (MO). You should expect to spend three days a week collaborating with your team in the office on a flexible schedule. Our engineers are a mixture of full stack, front end and back-end service experts, who take advantage of the firm's commitment to ongoing professional development through a wide range of resources. We have a separate first line support team that allows engineers to focus on their objectives. Our strong partnership with our business and co-ownership of work through the Agile product operating model means that there are plenty of opportunities for you to work directly with our business partners and further your understanding of the business.
About This Role
Wells Fargo's Digital team is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to architect, design and implement strategic capabilities to modernize and scale legacy platforms within the digital space. They will play a critical role in shaping the product definition, design, roadmap, and development of the current and new products. They will be responsible for leading a team of skilled engineers and promoting modern engineering best practices intended to improve quality and improve time to market. Key skills include solutions architecture, domain driven design, test driven design and experience building and deploying, mission critical microservices in Tanzu/PCF or a public cloud environment.
In This Role, You Will
  • Collaborate and consult with the Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
  • Drive and support Wells Fargo key performance indicators to increase mobile adoption and improve client satisfaction.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for driving resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of individual contributor engineer roles with low to moderate complexity and less experienced managers who are responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
  • Act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to make decisions and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement culture
  • Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for technology engineering including career development and performance management for engineers and managers on the team
  • Engage with architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture to enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example, cloud readiness, application modernization and data strategy
  • Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
  • Hire, mentor and guide talent development of direct reports to build the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for the supported product areas/products
  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
  • Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with low to moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of Leadership experience
  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • 4+ years of managing mobile web development.
  • 2+ years of experience with Tanzu/PCF or a public cloud environment.

Pay Range:
  • New York City, NY- Pay Range: $133,100 - $237,1000 annual base salary
