When and where is this opportunity?
Position has the flexibility to work from a US based home office and/or at the Brookings, SD or Rapid City, SD Daktronics campuses. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.

What will work look like for me?
At Daktronics, you’ll experience challenging and meaningful work; you’ll have a mentor who will challenge you to find solutions, take initiative, and develop a strong understanding of Daktronics products, practices, and procedures. We will make sure you have the knowledge needed to be successful to hit the ground running!

As a Daktronics Software Intern, you will put your degree to the test using cutting edge technology to troubleshoot and test production code for high-end video processing used by real customers. You will write code to enhance existing Daktronics software components by adding features or tracking down and fixing bugs. You will actively engage in business transactions and experience the satisfaction of knowing that something that wasn’t working yesterday is working for our customer today because of your software solutions and problem-solving skills. And sometimes, you will even see your work on national television!

You will also work with a team of developers and professionals to design, develop, and deliver software solutions to various Daktronics customers and business groups. You will primarily focus on:
  • Application Development:Enhancement and maintenance of our current applications and solutions along with design and development of new software applications using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Testing and Documentation:Write unit tests for existing code along with assisting in the development of software product requirements and design documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work within a larger development team to solve problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed to support the efforts of Daktronics.
  • Programming Languages: Most of the work would be done in the C#, JavaScript, and Typescript software development languages.

Pay and Perks:
The typical hiring pay for this position is $24.00 to $26.00. The actual pay offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education/experiences.

We also offer financial Relocation Assistance for positions that require placement in a specific location.

Qualifications:
Academic Requirements:
  • Students eligible to start the internship the semester immediately following undergraduate bachelor’s degree graduation will also be considered.
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week.
  • Candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student and registered for at least 12 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate) at the time of application.
  • Only strong academic performers will be considered; with preference to 3.0 GPA or greater.
  • Ability to work through the Cooperative Education/Internship Program at your accredited university and Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this 7-month internship, as needed.
  • Preferred candidate would be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Ability to take a semester off from school to complete the internship, if not a graduate.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this internship.
  • Preferred candidate would be at least junior status in school.

Preferred Experiences:
  • Object oriented programming knowledge is required. Knowledge of C++, C#, or Java preferred, but other object-oriented languages are acceptable.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft.Net Framework and Visual Studio.
  • Knowledge of GIT or other source control software.
Other Requirements:
  • Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Dedication and desire for quality performance.
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.
