PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the general administration of the Level V Social Worker and in collaboration with physicians and accountability to the Department Director and/or designee, the OB/GYN Social Worker will function in the area of Obstetrics and Gynecology with oversight of PEDS social work activities. With appropriate clinical and administrative supervision, they will assume both a front-line function in primary health care for the OB/GYN population as well as oversighUsupervision of all OB/GYN and PEDs SW staff. SW may also assist in coordination and/or management of associated internal and community serving programs.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
OB/GYN department with cross-training and support as needed in other medical departments and with/for other members of the medical social work team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides social work services within the scope of approved privileges, including mental health assessment, treatment, care coordination, case management and referrals
2. Oversight, assessment, clinical needs, care coordination of SW needs for GYN and obstetric population
3. Oversees related O8/GYN and PEDS staff and interns in compliance with H+H and university expectations.
4. Documents all patient contact in the EMR in a timely manner.
5. Provides consultation to providers and medical staff on social work concerns
6. Community outreach to current and possible partner organizations and sites
7. Advocacy for patients with community agencies and organizations
8. Collaborates to provide care coordination of activities in providing comprehensive care. (e.g. other healthcare providers, local health departments, social service, nutritionist, dentist, community-based organizations, home care and patient education groups).
9. Provides relevant health education and instruction; counsels patient/family/responsible other on the impact of condition or health needs, with particular focus on sexual health, family planning, pregnancy
10. Provides clinical and didactic instruction to professional staff, peers, students and community groups and conducts in-service educational programs, as needed.
11. Participates in departmental meetings and interdisciplinary or community committees, as well as Peer Review Performance Improvement meetings and activities, as required.
12. Follows Gotham, NYC HHC and facility-specific policies and protocols (including but not limited to policies around DNKA, Normal Notification, call-outs, dress code, and corporate job descriptions.)
13. Meets all compliance standards and requirements (including but not limited to annual physical assessment, fraud and HIPPA trainings, Fire Drill participation.)
14. Ensures that credentials are maintained.
15. Maintains Patient Safety and Infection Control Protocol as per Network and Departmental Policies.
17. Fosters/exercises Service Excellence in daily activities, when dealing with general public and staff
18. Performs administrative, professional and consulting duties as requested by the Chief of Service, Director of Social work and Social Work Leadership.
19. Performs other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED and one (1) year of supervisory experience utilizing casework, group work and/or community organization methodologies.

LCSW and valid license to practice in NY
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
Masters degree in social work
KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:
Excellent clinical judgement and practices, interpersonal skills, excellent professional skills, able to navigate EMR, social services organizations and internal departments.
COMPUTER PROGRAMS/SOFTWARE OPERATED:
EPIC, MS Office suite, internet
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
2+ years post MSW
