Durham County Government employs approximately 1,900 employees that work towards providing needed services throughout the community. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct intensive short term services to families utilizing County Emergency Assistance programs, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Low Income Energy Assistance Program, Crisis Intervention Program, Rental Assistance and community resources; Work closely with community agencies and outside vendors to provide comprehensive services; link individuals to community resources and other social services programs such as Medicaid, Food and Nutrition benefits, and Work First Cash Assistance programs; Assist with developing a plan with households to ensure the necessary steps are taken to avoid future crisis situations.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to assess and create needs/psychosocial assessments for individuals in Crisis Situations
• Ability to integrate and coordinate assessment services
• Case Management knowledge
• Community Experience
• Ability to affectively understand and operate in Crisis Situations
• Ability to foster positive interaction with the community and other agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

BSW degree from an accredited school of social work; or a bachelor’s degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; or a bachelor's degree and two years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
