We are seeking a Social Services Manager I who is interested in furthering the mission of our Charlottesville, Virginia location by leading in our goal to “do the most good” for our community.We are looking for someone who is innovative, a self-starter, committed to our mission, excellent written and oral skills, flexible with job duties, and is an organized and inspiring leader.
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Corps Officer, the Social Services Manager plans, directs, coordinates, supervises, and monitors the administration of all social service programs within the command utilizing the Pathway of Hope Model to include the following programs: Turning Point, Pathway of Hope program, Angel Tree, Summer camp and the social service function. The Social Services Manager ensures the implementation of a strengths based approach to client services, and where applicable, in accordance with the Pathway of Hope model. He/she will develop and implement policies/procedures resulting in measurable outcomes and results for all social service programs. The incumbent supervises the Residential Manager, Office Administrator, all Case Managers, Lead Housing Monitors, and the Social Services Worker and ensures work is in compliance with established policies and procedures. He/she develops, implements, and enhances programs with a trauma informed processes to effectively meet the needs of the community; administers the department budget and secures funding for programs; writes grants proposals and ensures program operations are in compliance with contractual agreements; serves as leader in the community by engaging in public speaking events and promoting program services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of social service program development and administration.Knowledge of the principles and practices of crisis intervention counseling as well as the dynamics and issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse.Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration.Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations.Knowledge of the procedures for applying for, securing and maintaining grant funding.Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing social service programs.Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community.Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices.Ability to motivate, lead, supervise, and evaluate subordinate personnel.Ability to provide leadership in the community to promote program services.Ability to perform public speaking.Ability to develop, implement, and enforce program policies and procedures.Ability to audit client records and ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Social Work or related Human Services field from an accredited college or university and four years progressively responsible experience administering social service programs with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.OrAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Appropriate Virginia social work certification and/or license preferred, LPC or CAC
Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to perform mathematical computations.Ability to perform public speaking.Ability to concentrate, think, and learn..Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.Duties are usually performed seated.Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
