Job Description
Position Description
The position is to be a key contributor to the Marketing team while ensuring all work is consistent with the Sporting KC brand purpose: “We create memories through personalized experiences with our Club.”
Sporting Kansas City internships allow students or recent graduates to hold a temporary position within the organization, with emphasis on training and gathering practical experience in their field of specialization by doing a variety of tasks as assigned by their Team Lead. The Intern will gain valuable experience working with the Marketing Team, collaborating in an environment full of learning opportunities designed to help all interns evolve their capabilities, challenge their strengths, and reach their fullest potential.
The Social Media Intern for SKC Creative assists the social team for Sporting Kansas City, Sporting KC II, and all other Sporting Club entities by developing and executing creative concepts, ensuring the organization is consistent and communicating a cohesive message through all channels of organizational and public-facing entities.

Essential Functions
  • Represent Sporting Kansas City and its related affiliates in a professional manner at all times
  • Assist SKC Social team with community engagement
  • Assist SKC Creative team with selecting and tagging photos
  • Assist with brainstorming for partnership integration on social
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned
  • Continue to grow and expand the brand, maintaining quality and consistency amongst all entities and partners
  • Produce original social content for Instagram Stories and TikTok
  • Assist with event and match coverage for Sporting KC and affiliates social media channels
  • Assist SKC Social team with content tagging and analytics reporting
  • Research and present new social trends, pop culture references and opportunities to create buzzworthy content on social media
  • Maintain the Sporting Kansas City brand by studying the target markets and competitors
Match Day Responsibilities
  • Full-time associates act as representatives of Sporting Kansas City at all home matches, engaging with guests and working to create Magic Moments for all fans.

Skills and Experience
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Calendar.
  • Adobe Creative Suite Knowledge experience.
  • Organizing work effectively, conceptualizing and prioritizing objectives and exercising independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
  • Awareness of and interest in latest digital, social media and emerging trends shaping professional sports
  • Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Digital Marketing or other related field required. Must provide proof to receive credit through the internship toward the completion of a degree.
  • Strong attention to detail and a drive for perfection
  • Photography and photo editing experience
  • Working in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Critical and analytical thinking processes
  • Ability to meet deadlines
