The Social Media Community Engagement Specialist affects and enhances The Dollywood Company’s marketing efforts by acting as the face and voice of external brand communications on social media. The Social Media Community Engagement Specialist also assists with publishing social media content to The Dollywood Company channels, copywriting for social media content creation, identifying community insights and occasionally writing general communication for other marketing channels. The Engagement Specialist must achieve these goals in a manner consistent with the mission, values and operating philosophies and standards of the Dollywood Company.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary Of Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • You’ll stay up to date with new platform features and social media tools and pitch use cases for them
  • You’ll provide crisis monitoring for owned and non-owned channels under direction of The Dollywood Company’s crisis communications plan
  • Someone with an understanding of culture through social media and how to use it in branded social content
  • Someone with excellent written communication skills
  • You’ll promote the various properties in a number of settings as a public face of The Dollywood Company
  • Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time
  • You’ll assist as needed with major PR publicity events including, but not limited to: product announcements, Dolly Parton appearances, park openings, media endearment events, industry events
  • Someone with a work portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of social media community management, experience creating social content, and a command of the written word across multiple social media platforms
  • You’ll maintain an eye for emerging social trends, plus pitch and execute content ideas related to trends and relevant cultural conversations
  • Someone with a passion for using audience and brand insights to better speak to audiences across various platforms to increase brand awareness, engagement and brand advocacy
  • You’ll maintain a thorough understanding of the Dollywood Company and Dolly Parton brands, to formulate internal and external written and video communications that position the Dollywood Company experience as unique, authentic and one-of-a-kind
  • You’ll embody The Dollywood Company’s voice, values and purpose to build relationships with potential Dollywood Parks & Resorts fans
  • What we’re looking for:
  • You’ll manage Dollywood Parks & Resorts social presence by publishing social media calendar content and responding to social users in a timely manner across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok
  • You’ll support the Dollywood Marketing plan by being a dedicated team player, approaching tasks with an open mind, embracing creative thinking, and respecting the ideas of other team members
  • Someone with a collaborative approach to content ideation and creation, and a willingness to both give and receive constructive feedback around the content creation process
  • Someone with an understanding of brand voice and how to represent a brand through frontline communication to different social audiences
  • Someone with a passion for interacting with social users across multiple platforms
  • You’ll write copy as part of the social media content creation process, working closely with the Social Media Specialist to pitch social content ideas and produce collaborative work
  • Someone with a passion for The Dollywood Company and Dollywood Parks & Resorts
  • You’ll maintain a solid grasp of relevancy as it relates to The Dollywood Company, the theme park/amusement and hospitality industries and the community (local, regional and global)
Required Skills

  • Able to comprehend instructions and retain information.
  • Able to operate/drive a company vehicle with valid TN driver’s license and insurance.
  • Above average memory retention and recall.
  • Must be able to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basis.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk; climb and descend indoor and outdoor stairs.
  • Able to make a friendly impression when speaking to or corresponding with guests, vendors, and other employees.
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of our Guests and feel empowered to act to meet their needs within company guidelines.
  • Must promote and support a “team” work environment by cooperating and helping co-workers.
  • Able to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities.
  • Ability to obtain a TN driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Ability to move, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist.

  • Must be productive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively using standard English grammar and punctuation.

Required Experience
  • Experience writing and creating content for social media
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Experience with Sprout Social or similar social media content management tool is a plus
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a TN driver’s license and state required auto insurance.
  • Experience in the theme park, hospitality and/or tourism industry is a plus
  • Experience with common office software such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test
  • Direct experience with responding to direct messages and comments
  • Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, marketing, or related field
  • A minimum of one year in a social media role
