About Eighth Generation:

Eighth Generation, the nation’s leading Native-owned lifestyle brand, is searching for a hard-working creative with a knack for story telling and social media to work at our headquarters in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood. This position works collaboratively with team members to help create and post content for Eighth Generation’s social media pages. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Assistant to join our team on a contract basis. As Eighth Generation’s Social Media Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our social media presence and engagement efforts across various platforms, as well as help out with occasional marketing tasks.

Responsibilities:

1. Schedule and publish content on social media platforms, ensuring consistency and adherence to the content calendar.
2. Using Eighth Generation's camera(s), take still and photo content, edit content, add transcriptions to videos, and write captions for posts.
3. Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, and respond promptly and appropriately to engage with our audience and address inquiries or concerns.
4. Monitor key social media metrics and analytics to evaluate the performance of content and campaigns.
5. Assist with occasional blog and e-newsletter writing.
6. Assist with general marketing tasks as needed.
7. Stay up-to-date with social media trends and best practices to ensure brand remains at the forefront of social media innovation.

Requirements:

• Creativity and a passion for social media marketing and community engagement.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Demonstrable knowledge of various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
• General knowledge of Native American and/or First Nations issues.
• A positive and collaborative attitude, with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team’s success.
• Proven experience in creating content for social media accounts for businesses, brands, or as an influencer.
• Proficiency in using social media management tools and scheduling platforms.
• Flexibility and adaptability to evolving social media trends and platform updates.
• Basic knowledge of social media analytics and reporting tools.

Position Basics:

• $25/hr
• Contract position (not an employee of Eighth Generation) for 3 months with the opportunity to extend
• In person work at our headquarters in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood
• 10 hours/week, with hours spread across Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
