Job Description

SIPA Multicraft

The SIPA Multicraft will apply, remove, and repair insulating material to exposed surfaces or structures, such as air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers and buildings to help control noise and maintain temperatures. Will construct, assemble, maintain, and dismantles tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all OSHA, site specific and Austin Industrial requirements for the erecting and navigation of the scaffolding.
  • Must be capable of working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Fit, wrap or attach required insulation material around or to structure, following blueprint specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must have insulator and scaffold builder skills and experience.
  • Reads blueprints and selects required insulation material.
  • Determine the amounts and selects required insulation material (in sheet, tubular, or roll form), such as fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane based on material's ability to retain heat, location, surface, shape, and equipment use.
  • Must be able of working at heights.
  • Using tape measure or other measuring device, measure and cut insulation material to specified size and shape for covering flat or round surfaces, using handsaw, knife, or scissors.
  • Brush adhesives on or attach metal adhesive application to insulation material.
  • Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Performs final inspection of completed scaffolding.
  • Determines type of scaffold needed.
  • Inspects job site and all scaffold material for defects and safety hazards.

Qualifications

Education – no minimum education requirements.

Experience - 2-3 years of Insulator experience.

Must pass drug screen and background check, as a condition of employment.
