Location: Dickinson, ND


Loenbro is looking for local experienced motivated Shop Welders to join our team. We are looking for hardworking professionals who enjoy meeting challenges and surpassing customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have a background in Shop Welding to complete jobs on time and on budget. This position will plan, lay-out, weld, install, test and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. Will work in Fab Shop based in Dickenson, North Dakota


Job Duties


  • Properly choose filler metals and construction material to complete assignments.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Supervise and train welder helpers.
  • Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications, and plan, lay-out, install and/or repair all types of pipe in accordance with those plans and specifications.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures that arise or that may encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Be motivated and work productively.
  • Responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on industrial oil refining piping and associated structures.


Education, Experience or Formal Training:
  • Must have working knowledge of various welding codes and specifications.
  • Must have welding experience in Pipe Welding, construction, mining or related industry or prefer a two-year vocational-technical degree.
  • Must be familiar with properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
  • Other processes utilized are Oxy-Fuel Welding and Cutting.
  • Welding processes most commonly used are SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW.


Working Environment:
  • Ability to work in conditions common to a construction site including but not limited to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, and noise.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work long hour shifts.


Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Possess full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.


Potential Hazards:
  • The use of X-ray machines
  • Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels
  • Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time on a monthly basis for required tasks
  • Outside the majority of the time
  • Limited working surfaces
  • If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
  • Exposure to areas with limited visibility
  • Manufacturing, pipeline, and refining environment
  • Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)
  • Potential or Periodic amounts of time for the following:
  • Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures
  • Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors


Essential Requirements:
  • Driving if required to travel
  • Use of respirator if position requires
  • Sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel
  • Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of 2 miles per day
  • Standing
