Job Description
Blast Cleaning Technologies, Inc. (BCT) has a temporary Shop Assistant position available on our 2nd Shift Weld team for this summer!


BCT is a leader in blast equipment manufacturing and was founded on repairing, rebuilding and upgrading shot blast equipment. General Description


Under the direction of the 2nd Shift Weld Supervisor, the assistant will perform a variety of duties in a manufacturing setting. This position would be temporary throughout the summer months to assist the manufacturing team in all necessary areas.


Essential Duties And Responsibilities


This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Ensure that the shop floor maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assist with moving materials to different locations on the shop floor.
  • Grind materials for the weld team to help with the workflow.
  • 2nd Shift Weld Responsibilities:
  • Assist with picking and pulling parts for the weld team as needed.
  • Assist with shop improvements as needed.

  • Valid Driver's license required.
  • Detail oriented with strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills.


Education And/or Experience


  • Age 18 or older
  • HS Diploma/HSED/GED or equivalent


Language Skills


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general instructions. Read and follow work instruction and read basic mechanical drawings. Read and pull parts from inventory using a pick report. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and employees of the organization. Communicate clearly both verbally and written.


Mathematical Skills


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Reasoning Ability


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must have mechanical aptitude working with basic tools. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

While performing the duties and responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit and use foot/feet to operate machinery. The incumbent will regularly talk and listen, climb, or balance and reach above shoulders. H/she will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and move from place to place. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. The employee will occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver several hundred pounds a short distance. The employee will frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Employees will frequently use material handling equipment, such as forklifts and cranes, as well as motor vehicles.


Work Environment


This job operates in a factory environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Safety glasses must always be worn while on the shop floor, along with steel toed boots. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions such as hot, cold, raining, etc. The noise level in the work environment is often loud enough to require hearing protection as well.
