The mission of the Children's Attention Home is to provide nurturing care and life-changing services for youth and families in need. As a provider of residential services to children who have experienced situations of abuse, neglect, or homelessness, we must take the utmost care when reviewing candidates. Hiring policies are taken directly from the state and federal standards under which we operate. All candidates must agree to a SC Central Registry Check, SLED check, and fingerprinting.


Position Summary And Purpose


The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the direction, management and supervision of the residential team in the delivery of programs, activities and services for residents. The Shift Supervisor serves as the primary campus leader during specified shift hours, after regular business hours and on scheduled weekends.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Intervenes, responds to, assesses and reports on critical incidents and emergencies. This may include assisting with de-escalation and passive restraint (Non Violent Crisis Intervention).
  • Is responsible for ensuring assigned team members are in compliance with educational requirements, including completion of mandatory training sessions and required training hours.
  • Works in collaboration with residential leaders and Volunteer Coordinator to provide needs-based staffing that meet ratio requirements for child supervision, activities, appointments, transportation, and on-site events.
  • Assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned team members.
  • Holds assigned team members accountable to established policies and procedures in conjunction with the Residential Service Director.
  • Supervises routine shift maintenance of CAH facilities.
  • Translates and interprets pertinent information from leadership meetings to assigned team members.
  • Reviews Paid Time Off requests for staffing feasibility and determines approval status.
  • Collaborates with Social Worker and Independent Living Coordinator in development and implementation of sustainable Independent Living Program for age appropriate residents.
  • Plans, schedules, supervises and coordinates the daily work of the residential team.
  • Responsible for ensuring assigned team members are in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Serves as a member of the intake team responsible for ensuring all aspects of the intake process are completed successfully for new admissions.
  • Serves as the contact person for outside groups, agencies, volunteers and/or visitors as needed.
  • Holds regular and as needed staff meetings and training sessions.

Education And Training


The Shift Supervisor must have a bachelor's degree in a Human Services or a related field or equivalent work experience is required. Two years' experience in a group home setting, with prior supervisory experience, is required.


License


A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.


Physical Demands And Working Conditions


Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment including a computer, telephone, etc.


Constant: standing. Frequent: repetitive use of hand, walking, standing, bending neck and waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting neck and waist, simple and power grasping of left and right hand, fine manipulation of left and right hand, reaching above shoulder level, reaching below shoulder level. Lifting objects up to 50 pounds from below the waist to a height of 3 feet. Restraining, with assistance, minors up to 18 years of age, weighing 150 pounds or more for up to 30 minutes. Occasionally running up to 75 feet over uneven ground. Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects or children.
