Shift Foreman
Job Summary
The Martinez facility is seeking a Shift Foreman for the Terminal or Renewable Fuels Complex. The Shift Foreman is responsible for delivering Operating Excellence by creating a committed ownership culture, setting clear expectations, and holding people accountable. The Shift Foreman is the on-shift crew leader. This position is responsible for delivering the production plan while ensuring a safe, compliant, reliable, and profitable operation on shift. This role reports to the Day Supervisor. The base schedule is approximately 42 hours a week, rotating 12 hour days - 4 day shift rotating between days and nights and support TAR once a year.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate response to abnormal situations, including troubleshooting and mitigation or recovery activities, and ensures effective communication to affected units and Operations leadership.
  • Lead shift in Conduct of Operations including, but not limited to, effective shift relief/start-of-shift meeting, proper job planning, equipment preparation, work permitting and Joint Job Site Visit (JJSV), proactive and effective unit monitoring.
  • Support high performance culture and continuous improvement through training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Lead safe, efficient and effective implementation of production plan. Drives implementation and understanding of production plan through communication and vigilance, reporting unit status and constraints. Optimize unit performance in coordination with upstream/downstream units and other departments to ensure variables are within operating envelope.
  • Establish and maintain culture of safety and environmental excellence by modeling appropriate behaviors and ensuring all employees practice good stewardship that impacts themselves, co-workers and the community.
  • Support unit reliability goals through proactive equipment care and condition monitoring. Review operator rounds, develops proper mitigation response, and communicates to leadership as necessary. Ensure equipment prepared for maintenance in timely manner and communicates exceptions.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC Card.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
  • The base schedule is approximately 42 hours a week, rotating 12 hour days - 4 day shift rotating between days and nights and support TAR once a year.
  • Must have a clean and valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as an operator, maintenance technician or engineer in a refining, chemical/petrochemical or other heavy related industry.
  • Must be able to perform all task related to emergency response team needs which includes all HAZMAT qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous emergency response or rescue technician experience is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory and or leadership experience is preferred.
  • Operations experience in refinery setting preferred.
  • Proficiency is Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred.
  • Previous Primavera P6 and SAP is preferred.
