We are seeking a team player to plan, lay out and perform fabricating and assembly operations on sheet metal products with minimum supervision. Work involves any of the following: Sets up and operates machines such as drill presses, punch presses, shears, bending rolls, brakes, grinders, and numerical control equipment to shape and alter sheet metal according to specifications. Follows blueprints, rough sketches, or engineer drawings to shape metal accurately. Uses hand and power tools to shape and smooth metal and to blend seams. May set up and operate soldering and welding equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Ability to follow written and oral instructions and read and implement instructions from OEM drawings (in English).

· Operates machinery and equipment within a fabrication shop. Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.

· Ability to utilize manufacturer’s manual and blueprints to properly identify and install fasteners used in assembly operations.

· Fully analyzes all required blueprints, drawings, work orders and sketches in order to fabricate desired product or part.

· Demonstrated ability to detect errors and correct through proper departmental channels.

· Experience with proper use of tools, torque wrench, equipment utilized in paint and corrosion removal, safety equipment (goggles, respirators, sanding booth), sheet metal tools for forming of aluminum (shears, brakes, rollers, wheels, shrinker/stretchers).

· Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule or template.

· Observes machine operation to detect workplace defects of machine malfunction.

· Expertise in assembly and measuring devices/tools, corrosion types and removal techniques, and use of surface conversion coatings for spot treatment of bare metals.

· Measures part dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.

· Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from parts.

· Operates equipment needed to perform job, unless a certification is required.

· Performs related duties as assigned by supervision.

Requirements:

· High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

· 2+ years related fabrication experience (i) reading and understanding mechanical drawings; (ii) using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as drill presses, rivet and hardware presses; (iii) previous experience manufacturing simple to complex mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies

· MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

· REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment:

This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in an indoor workshop environment. Activities may include climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 lbs. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision, and acceptable depth perception. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
