Duties
- Utilize a variety of conglomerate and sensorial airborne diagnostic and precision measuring equipment.
- Perform functionally check and troubleshoot systems, subsystems, and/or components to detect malfunctions within a particular assembly, and/or Line Reparable Unit (LRU) or Weapon Reparable Unit (WRU) component.
- Perform removal, trouble shooting, analysis, repairs, rebuilds, modifications, installations, replacements, and adjustments to various components.

- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain a respirator certification.
- This position may be required to work overtime, irregular tours of duty, weekends and Federal holidays.

Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications -WG-05 (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanic Helper without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common of an Aircraft Mechanic Helper duties such as preparing material for assignment. Utilize basic hand tools such as tape measure, hammers, wrenches, and can keep toolbox properly arrange and maintain inventory of tools. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications WG-08 (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanic Helper without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common basic duties of an Aircraft Mechanic such as replacing engine oil, hydraulic oils from reservoirs. Prepare material for assignment, utilize the tools of the trade such as torque wrench, calipers, tension meters, and such. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Minimum Qualifications WG-10 (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanic Helper without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform simple Aircraft Mechanic duties such as replacing engine oil, hydraulic oil from reservoirs and/or received training on the use of basic hand tools and Aircraft equipment components. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Working Conditions - Work is dirty, greasy, and unpleasantly noisy. Work is performed both inside and outside. Inside work is performed on concrete floors where areas are drafty and occasionally damp and where fumes are present. Outside areas are unprotected from elements such as wind, rain, snow and wide temperature variations. Operating helicopters create strong downwash winds, which result in blowing dust and dirt, as well as high noise levels. Rigging, alignment, tracking, adjusting and operational checks in this environment necessitate the use of eye and hearing protections. The noise hazards require annual audiometric evaluation. Use of hand tools, safety wire and electrical equipment presents possibility of cuts, punctures, strains, burns, shocks, and similar injury. Working on elevated surfaces and work platforms and ladders presents possibility of falling and injuries such as broken bones and sprains. Incumbent occasionally works outside under field conditions when involved in onsite repair or evacuation of aircraft forced down by mechanical malfunctions. Inherent dangers of toxic chemicals, unstable working positions, moving rotor blades are always present. May be required to fly as a passenger when going to the work site. Required to utilize protective clothing and safety equipment in the performance of assigned duties; e.g., shoes, glasses, goggles, gloves, hard-hat.
- Physical Efforts - Work assignments involve frequent standing, sitting, climbing, bending, and working in cramped and awkward positions. Lifts items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.
