The Shop Technician follows plans and cut sheets to create metal parts through operating the shear and brake and/or assembling ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) panels according to company protocols, quality standards, and package for shipment.


The Shop Technician Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Construct templates or mock-ups as needed.
  • Operate shear and brake in a safe manner.
  • Accurately read and follow the detail sheet, ensuring all tasks are marked as complete.
  • Operate a forklift, if needed. (Maintain proper certification as required.)
  • Program sheet metal brake with correct measurements, angles and color side following company procedures.
  • Double check design specifications and double-check measurements before cutting work.
  • Inspect and repair small engine, power, and hand tools and test for quality, as needed.
  • Read cut sheets and verify material, measurement, and part type.
  • Perform regular maintenance on equipment and tools, report issues for repairs.
  • Cut accessory parts, as needed.
  • Prepare ACM panels for construction by attaching extruded aluminum clips to the panels.
  • Stack, label, and package parts and stage in the appropriate racking for pick up.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by putting away tools and equipment at the end of the day, sweep debris, correctly dispose of and store chemicals properly; notify a manager of any potential issues.
  • Adjust shear according to measurements of verified stretch out.
  • Use applicable equipment and machinery to cut extruded aluminum clips to size.
  • Ensure quality control through checks and balances and adhering to industry and company standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Set up and operate company equipment, machines, and tools in a safe manner.
  • Maintain consistency and superior quality standard by regularly checking panels for damage or mistakes and take action to fix and notify a manager.
