POSITION OVERVIEW

Our well-trained Won-Door service technicians rank among the most skilled professionals in the construction industry - responsible for servicing and inspecting large and complex doors with mechanical, electronic, and code-compliance aspects. As the face of the company, we rely on our Won-Door technicians to provide an outstanding experience to our customers while servicing our life-saving fire and security doors. Our technicians are positioned near major metropolitan areas around the country and cover geographic territories generally extending from 100 to 250 miles from their home base depending on population density. Technicians work from their own homes and use their own trucks, with products to be installed shipped directly to the job sites. Jobs are dispatched to our technicians by a support team based at Won-Door’s headquarters in Salt-Lake City, Utah.

Compensation & Benefits

Our technicians are members of the Local Carpenters Union #801 with attractive compensation and benefits negotiated as part of a collective bargaining agreement . Depending upon their experience level and location, our service technicians earn $27.00 to $57.00 per hour plus a $10,000 sign on bonus and union benefits.

Our technicians are reimbursed for usage of their vehicles based on the optional standard mileage rate established by the Internal Revenue Service and are paid per diem rates to cover other travel expenses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. We are looking for a successful candidate who will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, perform repairs along with scheduled maintenance on equipment based on customer’s demand. Successful Technician will promote our service and products in a professional manner and provide customer satisfaction when taking care of the customer.

  • Able to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
  • Completes work orders on computer-based documents according to established procedures
  • Perform maintenance efficiently and effectively on automatic, accordion door systems.
  • Diagnose faulty equipment and apply knowledge of functional operation of unit and systems to identify the extent and cause of malfunction.
  • Able to read and understand complex service schematics, wiring diagrams and implement as needed.
  • Perform service on equipment in an efficient, safe, and professional manner.
  • Complete all job-related documentation in a timely and complete manner.
  • Drive safely and efficiently from point to point in service area.
  • Able to train new Technicians and provide support to other Technicians as needed.
  • Communicate and work with the parts and sales departments to ensure the customer’s needs are being met; immediately report any potential customer issues that need to be addressed and communicate positively and courteously with our customers.
  • Project a positive image when interacting customers, employees, and management in a cooperative, supportive, and courteous manner.
  • Proactively support our safety program and initiatives, comply with all safety policies and procedures, and ensure utilization of safe work practices on site, in the warehouse and office.
  • Use hand and power tools in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Performs work in a variety of customer environments including exposure to elements and in-climate weather.
  • Travel throughout coverage area. Regular Overnight travel.
  • Work with dispatch team to maximize labor revenue and efficiency within the work schedule while accounting for 100% of work time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of commercial construction standards is preferred.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting skills required
  • Advanced Mechanical and electrical skills required
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate basic math and read a tape measure

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of working at heights to service doors and operators using ladders

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in many different environments including construction sites, hospitals, pharmaceuticals facilities, business offices and retail locations and is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
