Job Description

The Sr. Test Automation Lead will play a crucial role in leading and driving the shift-left approach to quality within the organization, focusing on early integration of test automation throughout the software development lifecycle. The person in this position will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive test automation processes, standards, and frameworks to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and coverage. By championing a culture of continuous improvement, the Sr. Test Automation Lead will ensure that test automation is seamlessly integrated into the development pipeline, enabling faster delivery of high-quality software.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform code reviews of test automation code.
  • Foster a positive team environment, driving standards, consistency, collaboration, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends and new ways to test and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Perform tool and automation framework analysis and implementation.
  • Exhibit subject matter expertise in all aspects of test automation.
  • Work with cross-departmental IT teams to deliver high quality products on schedule and within budget.
  • Test pipeline creation, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Establish test automation standards and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and learning.
  • Establish process and implement test environment and data containerization.
  • Lead, coach and mentor test automation engineers.
  • Utilizes objective measures to identify improvement opportunities in test processes, organization and team efficiencies, and quality of deliverables.
  • Cultivate a trusting relationship with key stakeholders and leadership, earning trust, and building the team’s reputation to innovate and deliver with quality.
  • Establish test automation frameworks.


Requirements:

  • A deep understanding of the shift-left approach and Agile methodologies. Should be well-versed in implementing test automation early in the development cycle, integrating it with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience in defining and implementing test automation processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, frameworks (e.g., BDD, TDD), and test automation patterns.
  • The ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • 8+ years of in software testing, test automation, and quality assurance.
  • Strong proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, xUnit, Cypress, Postman or SpecFlow.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably Azure), containerization technologies, and automated testing best practices for Cloud Native applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in UI, API, and unit test automation with the knowledge and ability to understand when to use each.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps pipelines, repos or other similar CI/CD tools and frameworks.
  • In depth knowledge of programming languages like .Net, C#, JavaScript, etc.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably computer science or a similar discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of test data management techniques, including data provisioning, data masking, and data generation. Understanding how to manage and maintain test data securely and accurately.
  • Experience in performance testing and security testing, including the use of tools like JMeter, k6, or OWASP ZAP, and understanding how to integrate these types of tests into the overall test automation framework.
  • Proficiency in setting up and maintaining automated build and deployment pipelines.
  • Master’s degree, preferably in software engineering, computer science or a similar technical discipline from an accredited institution.


Working Environment:

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
