Job Description
The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a Senior Scientific Curator based in Bar Harbor, Maine.


This position has the ability to be fully remote and has a funding period of three years.


This position plays a critical role in data annotation and curation for GeneWeaver, a database and suite of tools for integrative functional genomics. The curator will perform diverse activities to gather, analyze, evaluate, and integrate information and analysis results related to addiction and addiction-related behaviors from model organisms.


The individual will contribute to ongoing research and resource development to support accurate cross-species analysis of phenotypes and diseases. Team participation in project development and software testing is expected, as well as collaborations with outside research groups and international bioinformatics communities.


Activities Include But Are Not Limited To


  • Attend group meetings and seminars, software testing, project development as well as make posters and present workshops at conferences to highlight new data and tools in GeneWeaver. Interaction with and participation in the Mouse Phenome Database (MPD) curation activities is expected.
  • Assist with training student staff, authoring project publications, and responsibility for writing/maintaining curational documentation.
  • Identify sources of data to be incorporated into GeneWeaver and either manually curate them or work with software engineers to bulk upload data through APIs etc.
  • The curator will add data following the curation standards set forth within GeneWeaver and must keep abreast of new scientific developments that are relevant to addiction or addiction-related behaviors
  • Obtaining data via literature or electronic-based means, determining uniqueness, and judging information or analyses for appropriateness of incorporation into GeneWeaver.


Qualifications


  • Completion of an advanced degree (PhD) in the sciences and direct experience in a scientific/research environment


Pay Range: $65431.68 - $112472.07
