The primary responsibility of the Retirement Counselor is to provide retirement education and expertise to our client and their employees located in the Knoxville, TN area.


This position will work both in person and virtually with retirement plan participants. The Retirement Counselor will primarily support individuals in Knoxville and must live in the immediate vicinity (Nashville is not in the immediate vicinity), but also available to travel in the region as necessary.


What You Will Do


  • Acting as the "voice of the customer" by relaying important client feedback obtained during on-site visits to the appropriate Retirement Services area (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Client services, Transition Team)
  • Developing strategic relationships with site contacts within their assigned territory
  • Working closely with internal business partners delivering increased client value
  • Spending 40% - 50% of their time at client locations delivering effective group and individual meetings to diverse audiences on topics such as: features and benefits of the employer sponsored Defined Contribution (DC) retirement plan(s) and retirement readiness


What You Will Bring


  • Minimum 3 - 5 years financial services/retirement experience
  • State life insurance license preferred (must be acquired within 90 days of hire)
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of mutual funds/separate accounts, with an understanding of the risk/reward trade off for all securities
  • Be well versed in Deferred Compensation and Defined Contribution Plans as well as retirement planning concepts
  • FINRA Series 6 & 63 licenses required
  • Satisfy service level agreements for the plan as well as achieve business results
  • Must be willing to travel to client locations within the Southeastern United States; some overnight travel may be required

The salary range below shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.


Base Salary Range


$ 58,800.00-83,025.00
