Job Description
About DAT

DAT is an award-winning employer of choice and a next-generation SaaS technology company that has been at the leading edge of innovation in transportation supply chain logistics for 44 years. We continue to transform the industry year over year, by deploying a suite of software solutions to millions of customers every day - customers who depend on DAT for the most relevant data and most accurate insights to help them make smarter business decisions and run their companies more profitably. We operate the largest marketplace of its kind in North America, with 400 million freight posts in 2021, and a database of $150 billion of annual global shipment market transaction data. DAT is headquartered in Denver, CO. We have a second campus in the Portland, OR area, where we got our start four decades ago, and we have additional offices in Springfield, MO and Bangalore, India. For additional information, see www.DAT.com/company.

The Opportunity

DAT Freight & Analytics is looking for a Senior Product Analyst to join our Product Insights Team in either Denver, CO or Beaverton, OR.

The Product Insights (PI) team turns our customer data into the actionable knowledge that builds the most in-demand products in our industry. This is your chance to bring your passion for using data to drive value to our customers, and DAT, at the same time.

Candidate Profile

  • A productive individual contributor who is also a strong team player.
  • A critical thinker, with the determination to rigorously question ideas and assumptions rather than accepting them at face value.
  • Able to turn complex data into a compelling (and accurate) narrative.
  • Intellectually curious.
  • Compelled to share new information with those that might benefit from it.
  • Driven to constantly make things better.

What You’ll Do

  • Create tracking plans for new features according to DAT’s instrumentation guidelines, work with Product and Engineering teams to get them implemented, and validate the implementations.
  • Proactively seek to engage the DAT community in the work that Product Insights does, via product trainings, lunch and learns, etc.
  • Identify, create, improve, and document Product Analytics-related standards and actively work to improve them for all involved parties.
  • Help to create an enduring information asset for the company by actively improving the team’s documentation, including adding useful content beyond the results of the work.
  • Apply new perspectives, creative problem solving, and inter-departmental connections to improve analytical capabilities.
  • Work with key stakeholders to establish meaningful and measurable success metrics for product initiatives.
  • Provide user-friendly quantitative data analysis and reporting of patterns, trends, and insights deliverables to decision-makers in order to drive product decisions, address product questions, and tell a story through data.
  • Represent the PI team on a portfolio of DAT’s products through every stage of the products’ life cycles.
  • Share best practices with peers through coaching and mentoring around core methodologies, standards, and processes.
  • Design and implement A/B tests to validate the success of product initiatives.

The Skills You’ll Need

  • Proven excellence in problem solving, research, quantitative analysis, and analytical working techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and recommendations in written, verbal, and presentation form at an appropriate level for a variety of business audiences.
  • 3+ years of experience in performing reporting and analysis, at least 1 of which is product-focused (e.g., rather than marketing- or sales-focused).
  • Experience using ticketing and code management tools like Jira, Bitbucket, or Github
  • Fluency with SQL (fluency with a programming language like Python or R is a plus).
  • A solid understanding of descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
  • Experience using BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, Looker, etc.
  • A/B testing and experiment design in a product context with tools like Optimizely.
  • Ability to be responsive to changing business needs, manage and prioritize concurrent assignments, and handle ambiguity.
  • Strong aptitude and desire for learning new platforms and tools.
  • A deep understanding of the product instrumentation processes, including experience using product instrumentation tools like Segment or Google Tag Manager.
