Senior Mechanical Designer (Process Design)

Job Summary: We’re looking for a remote Senior Mechanical Designer who is skilled in process piping design to work on industrial and manufacturing projects across the United States. This is a full-time position.
Job Requirements:
  • Project proposal generation.
  • 3D Block generation using AutoCAD / Revit.
  • Assist in review and development of design standards and practices.
  • Establish and maintain of budget and schedule of assigned projects.
  • Convert design sketches/mark-ups to AutoCAD / Revit format and 3D models.
  • Motivated to grow and influence growth within the design team.
  • Lead the effort with coordination of design, with other disciplines.
  • Generate capital costs associated with projects.
  • Creation of design layouts/details that show an emphasis on constructability and maintenance.
  • Drawing and deliverable package assembly.
  • Frequent interface with client/construction contractors on project challenges.
  • Generation and maintenance of Piping Line & Ties Lists.
  • Route Pipeline and ductwork systems in a manner that minimizes material, promotes constructability and ease of maintenance.
  • Directing or monitoring of other designers/drafters on project tasks.
  • Generation of Thermal Pipe Analysis Report.
  • Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Understand Sheetmetal Details.
  • Collect information and produce sketches from field inspections.
  • Equipment/Piping Layouts & Details.
  • Have knowledge of piping components, specifications, and application to commodities and services.
  • Perform 3D laser scans from field.
  • Use of Edgewise / Cyclone software to create 3D objects from point clouds.
  • Generate Piping Isometric Drawings using Plant 3D.
  • Leica Cyclone / Autodesk Recap (Point Cloud Scan Registration).
  • Understand Salas O'Brien's and multiple client CAD standards.
  • Assemble 3D equipment blocks in a manner that promotes constructability and ease of maintenance.
  • P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams) & A&IDs (Airflow and Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Multitask - Work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Participation in design/coordination reviews with Clients and or all other project team members including vendors.
  • Create and interpret field sketches generated by others.
  • HVAC, Utility Piping, and Plumbing Layouts and Details.
Experience:
  • Knowledge of specific types of processes used in industrial, chemical, food, and pharma facilities.
  • Knowledge of industry standards/codes
  • Microsoft Word/Excel
  • AutoCAD/Revit, Plant3D with Navisworks experience.
  • Minimum of (2) Year technical degree and 10+ years of work experience.
Location: Remote.
Travel: Minimal - up to 10% of the time; May higher percentage may be required.
