Senior Manual Qa Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and meticulous Senior Manual Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our team as a contract engineer working on a exclusive greenfield project to automate their workforce. As a Manual QA Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software applications through comprehensive manual testing. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and UX designers, to identify and report defects, verify fixes, and provide valuable feedback on the user experience. Your keen eye for detail and passion for delivering high-quality software will contribute to the success of our products.

This team is currently 20 engineers and growing. They are working on multiple projects making the company more tech-focused and intelligent through this platform. This person will be onsite Monday through Thursday in Irvine, California, and Fridays will be remote. This is a 2-year contract that will convert to full-time.

Pay rate is between $40-50 C2C depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Review software requirements and specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the application's functionality and features.
• Follow established QA processes and contribute to the improvement of testing methodologies and best practices.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing clear and concise reports on testing progress and issues.
• Identify, record, and track software defects using a bug tracking system, and work closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
• Provide input and feedback on software design, usability, and user experience from a testing perspective.
• Conduct exploratory testing to uncover potential defects and usability issues, providing valuable feedback to improve the overall user experience.
• Participate in release activities, including test environment setup, smoke testing, and post-release validation.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the QA process, tools, and infrastructure.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in software testing and quality assurance.
• Develop and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure full coverage of software functionality.
• Perform manual testing activities, including functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of test data, test environments, and test documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that software releases meet quality standards and adhere to established requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in manual testing methodologies, test plan development, and test case creation.
• Strong knowledge of software testing techniques and best practices.
• ISTQB or other software testing certifications are a plus.
• Experience with Selenium.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meticulously follow test cases and instructions.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proven experience as a Manual QA Tester or similar role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Knowledge of SQL and ability to write basic database queries for data validation.
• Proficiency in using test management tools like JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.
• Familiarity with bug tracking systems and test management tools.
• Experience with web-based and mobile application testing across different browsers and devices.
• Solid understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing concepts.
