Shipt is looking for a Senior Manager, SEO to help transform the Owned strategy and maximize reach. Reporting to the Senior Director, Owned Strategy, you will effectively collaborate across multiple internal teams including product, media, brand & culture, experience, and data science to deliver our SEO strategy to help grow brand awareness and membership for Shipt. You are creative, data-driven leader and focused in your approach to strategy development. You have strong collaboration and technical skills with a bias for action and the drive to stand up the SEO team!


Job Responsibilities


  • Work cross-functionally to ideate powerful SEO initiatives that drive reach and engagement
  • Drive the SEO optimization strategies to maximize reach to Shipt’s target audience via an increase in search engine results on key branded and nonbranded terms. Define measurable goals and tracking progress, translating the strategy to tactical workstreams with the team. Partner cross functionally to bring strategies to life with a clear vision
  • Partner with Paid Media and Social/Influencer team to align workstreams and content to the holistic strategy.
  • Elicit diverse points of view, welcoming the views and contributions of others
  • Support the Owned strategy and refine touchpoints to bring delight and brand differentiation to both members and potential members
  • Lead the SEO team with clear priorities, goals and workplans to ensure that they have the resources and support needed to be successful
  • Update content and website links for maximum optimization and search engine rankings
  • Stay informed of competitive trends and support the creation of competitive assessments to aid in developing near-mid-long term strategies
  • Support the SEO budget management to include forecasting and invoice management. Help to track monthly expense variances to optimize forecasting practices and enable spend accountability. Manage any external providers.
  • Participate in Annual Planning with cross-functional connection points, trend identification, plan development and analysis, including resource planning
  • Build “Executive ready” project deliverables and provide constant and clear communication of objectives, status and results to all relevant stakeholders at various levels of the organization for key projects
  • Provide coaching, constructive feedback, development opportunities, and recognition to direct reports as appropriate
  • Write/brief compelling and high-quality website content, including landing pages, blog posts and page descriptions
  • Manage the SEO meeting cadence to enable the rhythm of the Owned business, including leadership reviews and all hands team meetings
  • Identify opportunities to develop high potential staff through involvement in new projects, expanded accountabilities, promotions, and/or transfers
  • Monitor daily performance metrics to understand SEO strategy performance
  • Work with Consumer Insights, Experience and Data Science to understand the consumer base, roadblocks and opportunities for a data-driven strategy and tactics


Minimum Job Requirements


  • A strong Executive presence and commercially-driven mindset
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in Marketing, Communications or a related field
  • Five years of experience in successfully developing and executing SEO campaigns
  • Familiarity with WordPress or other content management systems
  • Ability to operate in ambiguity, adapting to a dynamic environment to change scope and focus with ease
  • Strong negotiations skills with vendors and agencies to secure agreements on mid-term (1-3 year time frame)
  • Comfortable analyzing and synthesizing high volumes of data daily
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners, including stakeholders at all levels, to drive results
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to summarize and escalate issues.
  • Experience with SEO industry programs, such as Google Analytics and/or Adobe Analytics
  • Expert in keyword research and data mining tools
  • Superb organization and leadership skills, including the capacity to manage multiple projects and teams at once
  • Ability to travel up to 0-25% of the time, as required
  • Demonstrated understanding of search engine algorithms and ranking methods
  • Demonstrated capability to complete competitive analysis of other companies within the industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Experience with other aspects of marketing, such as paid media, creative and promotion, is a plus


Work Arrangement


Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis.
