PRIMARY JOB PURPOSE:

The Senior Loan Assistant manages a team of Lending Assistants. The incumbent will coach, mentor, and train the Lending Assistants to perform successfully to achieve the Bank's overall objectives. Develop metrics, reporting, and processes to manage team performance and results.

MAJOR AND ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare cashier's checks for borrowers when authorized by the Loan Officer.
  • Promote the bank's products and services.
  • Correspond with Bank clients at the direction of Loan Officers or Bank Management.
  • Track matured and past due loans to minimize loan delinquencies.
  • Facilitates effective communication between individuals and departments.
  • Develop and deliver effective one-one-one and team training for the loan assistants.
  • Prepare the Loan Worksheet
  • Work with Bank clients to update evidence of insurance.
  • Actively participate in training programs to maintain and acquire additional job knowledge and skills.
  • Performs all duties pertinent to the individual role as necessary, including:

    • Preparation and review account documentation pertinent to loans and deposits.

    • Due diligence/analysis of new client relationships, including the preparation of opportunity memos as appropriate.

    • Construction loan inspections and process loan disbursement requests.

    • Prepare cashier's checks for borrowers when authorized by the Loan Officer.

    • Obtain and update collateral valuations.

    • Request borrower credit reports.

    • Prepare the Loan Worksheet

    • Follow up with borrowers to obtain post-closing items, if any.

    • Work with Bank clients to update evidence of insurance.

    • Track matured and past due loans to minimize loan delinquencies.

    • Review commercial account activity and assist the Loan Officer with clearing issues on a regular basis.

    • Correspond with Bank clients at the direction of Loan Officers or Bank Management.

    • Set appointments for Loan Officers.

    • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.

    • Actively participate in training programs to maintain and acquire additional job knowledge and skills.

  • Performs quarterly and annual reviews
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained.
  • Due diligence/analysis of new client relationships, including the preparation of opportunity memos as appropriate.

Compliance - Assists in the Bank's compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

  • Develop processes to comply with all applicable federal and state banking rules and regulations regarding lending and create risk logs, and metrics to track understanding and compliance.
  • Adhere to all applicable Bank policies and procedures.
  • Cooperate with banking Regulators and Auditors, as needed

Interpersonal/Team Skills - Cultivate and maintain a professional image and rapport with customers, the public, co-workers, Regulators, Auditors, Bank Management and Directors.

o Positive attitude and the ability to give direction and constructive feedback.

o Keep appropriate parties informed of project status, problems, issues, etc.

o Negotiate and attempt to resolve conflicts around projects or work assignments; communicate problems to the manager as needed.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Some accounting experience, preferred.
  • Ability to meet bonding requirements for employment purposes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Detail oriented, and analytical
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a cohesive team.
  • Experience with bank loan and deposit systems.
