The Digital Solutions Department of the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks an experienced, motivated, and highly skilled Senior IT Project Manager to oversee and successfully facilitate the direction, coordination, implementation, control, and completion of development (build and buy) projects while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments, and goals of the school. In this role, you will engage with the operations behind a world class academic institution, contributing your experience and skills to influence and evolve the workplace and culture. Our team supports faculty, graduate students, and staff with an expectation to deliver high quality products and services that meet their needs within appropriate timelines and budgets.

The Senior IT Project Manager will work a hybrid schedule, typically being present on campus a minimum of 2 days per week.


Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage risk, control, and report on risk.
  • Manage large and complex projects with high performance risk, driving project(s) to completion.
  • Adept with using collaboration, tracking, and internal systems like JIRA, Confluence and ServiceNow.
  • Actively seek feedback from stakeholders and open to trade-offs to ensure project deliverables are meeting both GSB DS standards and customer needs.
  • Look for opportunities based on data to provide plan options for successful project delivery.
  • Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed.
  • Work closely with GSB DS internal technical teams, GSB program functional offices, and University Information Technology (UIT) in delivering project goals and objectives with no compromise to quality and within the stipulated timelines.
  • Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead change management methodologies underlying project success.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the program, report progress to stakeholders, and provide regular updates on project status.
  • Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete a project.
  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus.
  • Manage more than one project simultaneously.
  • Perform the full range of activities in the project management lifecycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, communicating, controlling, and closing.
  • Maintain relationships both within the GSB and with external schools and central services.
  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Masters in Project Management, or completion of a Project Management Certificate program. Certificate or degree in process will be considered.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement components.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and ten years of progressively responsible, relevant project management experience performing duties similar to those listed above or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ability to productively assemble, engage and lead cross-functional teams.

The expected pay range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 per annum.
