Job Description
The Senior Graphic Designer is passionate about expressing ideas visually. He/She leads, oversees and performs complex and difficult design tasks, translating abstract ideas into viable formats, developing concepts, and creating preliminary and reproducible designs.


Through experience and using critical thinking skills and considerable expertise, the Senior Graphic Designer will translate project and creative briefs into meaningful and persuasive communications products for digital and print to efficiently and effectively achieve stated goals. This position concepts, develops and implements digital and print projects for a variety of CommunityAmerica initiatives and other specific design needs including website, social media, online ads (display, animated display and discovery) email, retail signage (static, digital and ATMs,) print ads, banners, presentations, debit/credit card designs, identity systems and internal branding.


  • Partner with and lead internal team and agency partners to promote CommunityAmerica’s brand through all channels
  • Participate in design meetings, briefings and agency calls with confidence and leadership.
  • Ability to explain to non-design team members and partners what we are doing and why it benefits the organization and the recipient of the communication being developed.
  • Produce and/or direct relevant video content for online/social channels in collaboration with copywriter and creative manager
  • Understand marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and target audience
  • Develop and maintain modular, mobile-responsive master templates for our overall email marketing program
  • Promote honest and open communication throughout the organization and demonstrate behaviors consistent with company’s values and philosophies
  • Lead, advise and collaboratively reviewing work with graphic design staff
  • Comprehensive understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio and Audience Builder.
  • Monitor and manage email deliverability and ensure legal compliance (CAN-SPAM)
  • Develop complex and customized HTML email code that adheres to industry best practices and brand guidelines.
  • Scripting for dynamic content, personalization and segmentation
  • Concept, design, develop and implement online, interactive, animated, or print visual content for direct mail, email, website, mobile site/app, ATMs, in-branch digital signage, online display advertising, social media, kiosks, and internal needs.
  • Participates in and leads when assigned the creative process by presenting well-developed and strategic creative solutions to meet all project objectives
  • Advanced knowledge of email platform limitations and code fixes/hacks to resolve issues
  • Translate objectives from marketing creative briefs into print and digital executions.
  • Manages email reputation status with Google Postmaster and Microsoft SNDS
  • Stay apprised of competitive landscape, emerging technologies, activity and trends within marketing, design, engagement, promotions, community-building, etc.
  • Discussing and implementing pre-press preparation with project manager and print vendors, review and approving printer’s proofs and conducting press checks.


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Art, Advertising, Communications or related field.
  • Portfolio requested
  • 2-3 years of experience working in an email platform such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Hubspot or Marketo.
  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience in Advertising, marketing and/or Web design, preferably in an agency or in-house creative team setting.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Advanced understanding of web languages and development tools such as HTML, HTML5, CSS, Photoshop and After Effects
  • Technical understanding of platform specific scripting languages (e.g. AMPscript) and SQL is preferred
  • Expert working knowledge of software packages (Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, After Effects, etc.) Figma and programming languages including Flash, HTML5, CSS and Javascript
  • Excellent design skills with the ability to develop concepts and produce work that fits within brand standards as well as being visually compelling
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage several projects at the same time and excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and process
  • Continuously evolving email coding to keep up with current trends
  • Detailed technical knowledge of online, mobile, social and print


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Video editing experience
  • Print production experience
