WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


The Senior Finance Manager will support TNC’s Marketing and Communications Division (MAC) in a wide range of financial services, including financial management, reporting and analysis, and general financial data maintenance. They will analyze information to achieve results, solve complex problems, and serve as a key team member for the enhancement of processes and workflows. They provide support, direction, and training to all levels of personnel on financial matters and manage finance personnel for the division. They are also responsible for financial compliance with TNC policies and procedures, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring accuracy of financial documents, revenue coding and business processes. They drive corrective measures and consistency with corporate policies.

The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for managing MAC finances, including effectively planning, reporting, and communicating our divisional financial results and plans. They manage the full budget life cycle of a ~$44M budget, which includes leading the development of the annual budget, forecasting future financials, and leading efficient and clean year-end closing. They work with budget managers across the division to ensure we are on track to meet budget throughout the year; they provide variance analysis summaries to executive management, elevating risks and opportunities as appropriate; and they oversee the documentation of assumptions and tracking of funding sources and internal investment requests.

As Senior Finance Manager, you will:

  • Prepare executive level financial presentations utilized by senior management
  • Provide financial assistance to staff and responds to complex staff/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of finances and budgets.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning personnel and other organizational information.
  • Oversee and/or directly perform general accounting duties.
  • Distribute and review finance performance reports with budget managers on a monthly basis to ensure that we are tracking to meet goals, and develop additional analysis as needed.
  • Participate in driving solutions to key analytical, strategic and business challenges
  • May participate in complex negotiations.
  • Supervise and support finance and administrative staff.
  • Apply advanced understanding of TNC finance and MAC strategy to multiple situations to conduct analysis and evaluate results.
  • Decisions may bind organization financially and legally.
  • Ensure TNC policies and procedures and financial standards requirements are met.
  • Expert user of TNC’s financial management system and budgeting system.
  • Prepare financial models; provides ad-hoc financial analysis.
  • Manage and implement multiple projects.
  • Drive process improvements related to forecasting, reporting, modeling and analysis

The right candidate will be comfortable assuming ownership of critical functions, be adept at managing multiple priorities, and will be expected to take initiative. The Senior Finance Manager will have significant interaction with all levels of management. They are a trusted advisor to MAC business partners - providing effective communication and disciplined time management. Driving for results and creativity in problem solving are critical attributes for success in this role.   • Experience developing budgets in collaboration with business partners.
  • Technical expert on complex accounting/financial issues. Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience analysing data, identifying reporting needs, and preparing recommendations to management
  • Experience acting as a resource to others to solve problems.
  • Experience working in non-profit sector.
  • Experience analyzing a regulatory framework and applying it to the situation at hand.
  • Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated.

  • Experience monitoring for and ensuring financial compliance with organizational policy, applicable law and regulation, and finance/accounting/management best practices

WHAT YOU'LL BRING


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration and 5 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience with GAAP.
  • Experience recruiting, supervising, and developing staff.
  • Experience with accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
