Senior Environmental Planner / Senior Project Manager (Water Practice Group)
Northern California office locations in Oakland, San Francisco, Petaluma, Sacramento, or San Jose
Position: Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager (Water Practice)
Location: Can work out of any one of our Northern California office locations in Oakland, San Francisco, Petaluma, Sacramento, or San Jose
Prestigious environmental consulting firm specializing in the planning, design, mitigation, and restoration for projects across our communities, infrastructure systems, open spaces, and wildlands; actively seeks seasoned and experienced Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager to join any one of our Northern California office locations in Oakland, San Francisco, Petaluma, Sacramento, or San Jose.
Our Northern California Water Practice focuses on water resources plans and projects: water supply and infrastructure, flood protection and restoration, wastewater, and recycled water. We have managed the environmental analysis, permitting, and implementation of hundreds of water resources projects for local to state-wide and national clients. From regulating agencies to water resource and land use agencies, we help our clients successfully complete plans and projects that have positive effects on water resources and the provision of safe and clean water throughout California.
Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager Qualifications and Experience Needed:
The ideal and successful Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in leading or directing the development of high-quality environmental analyses including CEQA and NEPA documentation and client deliverables for both public agency clients. Must have prepared and have comprehensive knowledge of policy planning, water-related regulatory permitting, and relevant regulatory and environmental regulations and processes in California.
Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager who is an effective team member and communicator who proactively identifies and contributes constructively to address broad project or team issues, providing mentoring and coaching to more junior staff to foster teamwork.
Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager who has significant experience working on CEQA and NEPA documents and permits for water-related projects such as those associated with water and wastewater infrastructure, water supply, Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, flood management and ecosystem restoration. Work with power generation, renewable energy, and other infrastructure (e.g., transportation) projects is helpful and a plus.
Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager who possess excellent oral and presentation skills and have led and directed marketing and business development pursuits including developing capture strategies, and leading proposals, interviews, and presentations.
Must hold a Bachelors degree with major course work in environmental, planning, geography, public policy, or a related interdisciplinary field.
Senior Environmental Planner / Project Manager Overall Role and Responsibilities:
As a senior level Environmental Planner, you will lead or direct multi-faceted planning projects in collaboration with scientists, engineers, landscape architects and other specialists on larger and more complex municipal water-related projects.
You will demonstrate a clear understanding of project management principles and practices and be responsible for the development of environmental compliance and planning documents in accordance with applicable guidelines and requirements, while delivering assignments within budget and schedule.
Serve as a planning specialist, preparing and managing complex environmental analyses and coordinating with key team members, including senior staff, subconsultants, and clients. You will produce technical work and written products that are clear, concise, and wellsupported.
Consistently demonstrate your solid writing skills, attentive listening skills, and participate in and/or lead client meetings, present at or provide support at community workshops and public hearings effectively presenting complex technical information clearly and concisely.
Lead the preparation of proposals for midsized projects and assist with proposals for larger projects, providing technical input, contributing to proposal writing, identifying opportunities, and engaging with proposal/interview teams. These efforts will include having the responsibility for preparing scopes of work and budgets. You may also lead and direct marketing and business development pursuits including developing capture strategies.
Provide mentorship and support for junior staff, including reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity and providing constructive feedback and career development guidance while working on projects together.
You will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment and be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines, while working on a team or independently.
